Placing your bishop on an inferior square is a recoverable mistake, but opening up your king without reason can be decisive. Today GM Dzindzichashvili shows a game between two experts in the Boleslavsky Sicilian, an opening Fischer, Geller, and Gligoric all essayed (and of course Boleslavsky!). Watch the maneuvering required and the attack White gets with his f4 advance. Dzindzi isn't as critical as in recent videos, so the players must have done something right! | Bekijk video

One and a half out of two as Black against two titled players, whilst keeping the initiative the whole time? Sign me up! GM Perelshteyn continues to open the keyhole to his secret preparation against the Fianchetto System - this time he explains a worthwhile exchange sacrifice. Black gets center control while weakening White's king. Even the endgame is no bargain for the first player. Watch the cluster of Black pawns overwhelm White! | Bekijk video

GM Bojkov is back! Today he begins a well-researched series on a pawn structure that will surely occur in your games sooner or later. Make sure you're good with the Carlsbad. In today's part 1, he focuses on the infamous minority attack. How can two pawns defeat three? With the help of an open c-file, that's how. Bojkov shows all the permutations of the attack on the c6-pawn, including a World Champion preemptively attacking the pawn even before it gets there! | Bekijk video

The Queen's Gambit Declined. Game doesn't heat up until move 20, right? Not today - GM Dzindzichashvili shows you that some early queen sorties can create dynamic play before either king gets castled. Watch and learn when White or Black can go pawn grabbing, and when the pawns are laced with hemlock. Take the wrong pawn at the wrong time, and Dzindzi will give you a big batch of "I told you so." | Bekijk video

Coach Keaton is back on assignment - this time looking at a stellar endgame played by Vishy Anand. What should have been a technical conversion was made to look easy. Queen and pawn endgames are of different thought process, and by watching this video you'll learn what the number one thing to focus on should be. Anand performs the task gracefully, almost oblivious to the fact that he is being chased by the Black queen! | Bekijk video

From the "Here's something you don't see every day" file...GM Gata Kamsky getting outplayed. Our author GM Mikhalevski accepts the doubled pawns, but he gets a bevy of positional compensation. His open file, 7th-rank invasion, dominant bishop, and more active knight more than make up for having one more pawn island. Still, it takes a lot to beat a man who has been World Champion Candidate several times. Watch and see how, you know, in case you ever play for the title! | Bekijk video

Blunders are not like fine wine - they don't get better with age. But don't tell GM Finegold that! He eagerly shows off two games in which he was quickly dispatched due to early oversights. See if you can spot the blunders before Ben tells you. He saves face in game three, where he plays a Falafel? Perhaps it's more accurate to say he eats the Falafel (Ben is a vegetarian after all). Mmmm, tastes like checkmate. | Bekijk video

Why play the main line when you can instead play a perfectly reasonable move that confused your opponent? GM Finegold is full of these tricks, and today he illuminates one more - the "mysterious" Qd2. Where is she going? Why does she want to be there? Apparently there's a method to the madness since in both of these games the queen invades Black's castle quickly. In game two, Ben "accidentally" copies a famous GM for most of the game. That's a nice surprise! | Bekijk video
